Biography
Since
childhood, Susan P. Cochran has been involved in the world of art.
Her early love of knitting quickly ran the fiber gamut. She then
achieved success with her watercolors, found acclaim in the world
of beads, and now she has discovered bronze.
Susan's
first bronze series depicted the subjects attitudes through their
clothing. Her fascination with textiles brings forth the life that
the images project. She covers the human emotions of the hardworking
man, the Hawaiian lei maker, friends sharing a conversation in the
park, and the emotional exhaustion of the firefighters all through
the caricature of wardrobe alone.
Susan's
current series brings forth her love of nature and fascination with
the world of flora and fauna. Susan's beadwork extensively demonstrated
this love but she constantly wrestled with expressing herself through
such small works. Her vision culminated with the grand architecture
of giant bug chairs and benches.
Current
collectors of Susan P. Cochran's work are nationwide, including
Perry Ellis International-Miami headquarters and the N.Y. City Fire
Department Museum. The unveiling of the insect series took place
in Chicago Navy Pier late 2004. Future showings will take place
in the West Palm Beach Convention Center for the SOFA palmbeach3.
